   They have been used by at least one fire department in a nearby town to
locate fire hydrants that both they and the regional water authority had lost
track of.  No fooling---I saw a guy with a hand-held GPS at a hydrant and
asked !Bob

It's a fact that they are sometimes used by Police to locate people.
