Hi Bill,
Ken Hill's book Completely Morgan lists "P" numbers for +4's starting
with the +4 prototype P2100 of September 1950. P numbers seem to have
continued through P3488 on the TR2 engined cars. Therafter apparently
the P prefix was dropped on the TR3 engined cars.
An interesting side light is that the factory record book does not
include the P prefix on flat rads, showing only the chassis number. The
chassis number stamped on flat rad chassis does include the P. I have a
copy of the factory log for my project flat rad four seater chassis
number P2529 which shows no P letter just the number. There definitly
is a P stamped on the chassis.
I think maybe originally the P was for PLUS 4.
Regards, Tony Souza
