First gear is straight cut and usually has a chipped tooth or two from being jambed into first on the roll. The synchro rings are pressed into the gear cluster and not readily removable. This is much like T series MG's I believe. The box is very direct particularly in Morgans as the shifter goes right into the top. It is an acquired taste and can truthfully be shifted easily and quitely with a little practice. A bit of hesitation is required in neutral with a double clutch going down on some boxes. S.
