Mark, those readings aren't too bad, in fact my GT was worse before I
rebuilt the engine. I'd drive it all summer and think about a rebuild in the
winter and even then I'd probably do more research before pulling the
engine. It might just be a valve job that's needed. I remember following
you down Sweet Water Springs Rd on the Valentine's day tour and you were
blowing smoke on the engine over run which usually indicates worn valve
guides, which could account for the oil plug on one cylinder.
How's the oil pressure? If it's low that's usually more an indication of an
engine rebuild.

I have a general question for all you knowledgable car folks.
My 1957 MGA is burning (and loosing but that is another issue) engine
oil. One cylinder in particular shows a very black spark plug.
Compression is reading 140,140, 120, 140.
At what point is lower compression doing damage to the engine as a
whole, and necessitates pulling the car off the road for a rebuild?
I would like to run it through the summer but do not want to wreck the
engine.
