This weekend I had a little time to kill before SHMBO dragged me away
from working on my AD and off to dinner at some damned expensive restaurant
somewhere in south county. I decided to spend the time doing something that
improved the looks of the truck and would take little time even if it moved
the project no further towards roadability.
Some time ago, one of the suppliers had sent me a sticker sheet as part
of an order with die cut vinyl stickers in red and blue to dress up the front
name plate on the hood of the old AD. These stickers were pretty easy to
apply, and the fit was reasonable. Lacquer thinner cleaned off the old wax
and grunge leaving the stainless looking new. The "cat's whiskers" that dress
up the word CHEVROLET needed to be trimmed to size with a pocket knife, but
this proved very easy to do. Some of the letters were a little undersized on
the vertical or horizontal strokes, but the overall effect is quite nice.
>From 10 feet it looks factory. My buddy Dave from New Zealand commented that "
a blind man riding by on a horse couldn't tell it from original." Thanks
Dave, I think!
