In the two years I've been on the list, I really haven't seen that many
jokes get posted. They're usually few and far between. Always thought that
was a good sign that most members don't mind an occasional joke, but don't
want to see a steady stream of them. Always seemed to be a pretty good
balance. There have been times when I started to post some type of humor,
but remembered we'd had a joke or two that week and that was enough. If we
started getting jokes every day, I'd sure be screaming "enough!", but we
really don't have that many....and they're usually pretty good ones. My
vote would be....if we've had a joke or two posted during a particular week,
that's a good sign no more are needed. And someone already mentioned to be
sure and put "Off Topic....Humor" in the subject line so people can delete
them easily if they don't want to see them. My view is, the folks on this
list have a good sense of balance on various topics and can police the
content pretty well. Really don't think we need an "all or nothing" policy.
Just good common sense....along with our usual respect for other peoples'
time.
