My brother Brian brought a "shipment" of parts on Saturday, and I sent a
bunch of stuff back with him too (a drafting table and an 89 Dodge that looks
great but I never could sell so I just gave it to him. . .it was my wife's
cast-off when she got her Jeep).

Essentially, I got my old busted 283, my new 350, and my antique Coke machine
(every restoration shop has to have one, right?).

Brian painted my 350 with the PPG gray that is supposed to be the correct
color for the truck engines. It actually looks much darker than what I
would've thought, but I like it ok. It's almost a green tinted gray. When
Brian saw it, he decided to buy a can of supposed correct from a resto
vendor. . .it's definitely lighter and is almost a blue tinted gray. He was
doing his engine for his 57 Cameo side by side with my Sub engine. Even
thought he valve cover lettering was painted on the truck engines, Brian
plans to paint his black. Since my engine is much darker, I'll paint my
valve cover letters white/beige. I'll get started on putting everything
together engine, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, transmission, etc.

I plan to keep the 283 and try to fix the beating the block took when the
engine went years ago. . .(those of you on this list since prehistoric times
may remember the incident). . .it is the original engine for that truck.

Question--Where can I find parts for old (40's/50's era) Coke machines? I
need decals, misc mechanical parts, trim pieces, and some of the refrig
parts. I had two catalogs that had most of that stuff but loaned them to
Brian and he can't find them (he has a coke machine in his shop as well). A
web search on several engines didn't show up anything I was looking for. I'm
looking for parts; not a resto service. I prefer to do it myself.
