I have two vinyl interiors that are in relatively good shape, but are suffering
from Sun discoloration in one case and an ugly interior/body color mismatch in
the other. So far, I've found three general options:

        1. Premixed Vinyl paint - Most common seems to be an SES brand carried
by Eastwood Co. and others. Good color selection, but no custom
           matching from these off-the-shelf suppliers.

        2. Premixed Vinyl/Leather "Dye" - Supposed to penetrate. Seems to be
less common than the vinyl paints, but still offered by the likes
of J.C. Whitney. I intuitively like the idea of penetrating color
over a surface coat, but am suspicious that this stuff doesn't
           work all that well.

        3. Color matched paint/"dye" - This is basically a customization of
options 1 or 2. At one time, there were 3 or 4 suppliers that
advertised this service in Hemmings, but I found only one in a
recent copy. I suspect a well stocked auto paint supplier could
provide this service; but haven't checked yet.

Has anyone on the list had good or bad experiences with these or other options
for recoloring vinyl? Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly
appreciated.

BTW - In case it matters, the Sun discoloration I am trying to fix is on light
tan while the color change I'm considering is taking red/white tutone seats to
black.

Thanks and regards, Bob Douglas
