Actually, I'm pretty sure they mean flexible metal hose, such as sold to
connect water heaters to house plumbing.  Try Home Depot, near the water
heaters.  A flexible element is needed to isolate compressor vibration and
expansion from the rest of the piping.  3/4" Aeroquip would probably work
fine, if you can afford it.
