You know, there are no doubt many chemicals that will chew up plastic like
crazy, some of which I've no doubt found out about the hard way. Trouble is,
I just can't remember which ones. I'm not even 50 yet, I can't be having
senior moments already! Oven cleaner? Lacquer thinner? Oil of wintergreen?
(slot car tire treatment) How about just taking a propane torch to it, then
scrubbing off the ashes?
