Before giving it to the dog, you might try rubbing compound, or even
jeweler's rouge.

I know this isn't actually "SHOP" related, but it could be done in a
shop.

I've got a friend with a Silverplated punchbowl... she served fresh
squeezed lemonade from it.  Apparently the acid in the lemonade left a
unremovable black finish on the silver...  so far we haven't found a
silver
polish, cleaner, detergent, or anything else that will remove the stain
and
restore the silver shine.... any suggestions ???   or does the dog get a
new fancy water dish ???
