I'm having a problem with a gas tank. I originally loaded it with solvent and
a length of chain and shook it like an oversized cocktail shaker until the crud
was gone and the fluids that went in came out clean. I then sealed it with
some now forgotten tank sealer. Now its ten years later and the tank sealer is
failing and my Holley is filled with something that looks like a mixture of
gravy and egg nog (rust and degraded tank sealer)
So it looks like I need to clean the old tank or fabricate a new one. What is
the best method to rehabilitate an old tank that doesn't leak?
Second question: If I was to fabricate a new tank, what kind of materials
should I consider? I was thinking steel, but it'll rust, so how about
stainless or aluminum?
