I'm updating a piece of equipment for use
as a grinder/buffer. It has a separate electric
motor driving a V-belt which in turn drives an
1-1/4" dia. shaft that will hold the grinding wheels
and polishing wheels. My problem is that I'm
getting ready to fit the unit with a newer 1.5hp 1ph.
motor with 1750 rpm speed. The original setup
has a single pulley on each end.....i.e. no speed
adjustment available. I'd like to find some step
pulleys that will work.

The original pulleys have a two piece design that
worked well and I'd like to continue with the same
setup, if possible. The new multi-step pulleys would
need to be two piece design with a center section that
has a narrow slot cut into it from one side through
the center (1-1/4" bore) and slightly into the other
side. This 'spring' cut allows the center section to
'clamp down' securely on the shaft. The compression
of the center section is caused by the slight taper when
the center section is inserted into the outer section (which
is the part that has the V-grooves). When two Allen screws
are tightened (the Allen screws are fitted half-way in the
center section and half-way into the outer section) there
is a very positive clamping affect around the center bore
hole.

As you can see, this can be very confusing, especially if
you don't what the correct terms. I've tried to find this
type of pulley on the 'net, but without a brand or type I've
had no luck.

Anybody have any knowledge in this area?

Thanks.
