Your carburetor's either a Tillotson or a Walbro, not that it makes any
difference.

Rebuilding it consists of nothing more than taking it apart and
cleaning it. There is a vacuum diaphragm "fuel pump" in it, and it's
common for the two flappers and their seats to get a little sticky from
old gas. That's why it's a very good idea to run the engine out of gas
before putting it away. Rebuild kits are cheap and available at
hardware stores, but you probably don't need one.

>From my memory of the Tillotson service manuals of some years ago.

Three screw settings, (1) idle speed, (2) idle mixture, (3) main
mixture.

Presuming you've taken it all apart, set the two mixture screws at two
turns off seated. Start engine & warm it up.

You set idle speed so the trimmer head is barely turning.

Set main mixture first. At full speed, no load, bring it up to highest
rpm, and go past it enriching until the engine 4-strokes. Bring it back
until it just stops 4-stroking. That's typically where you want the
main setting. You do not want this to be too lean, or you'll burn the
engine up.

Reset the idle speed.

Adjust the idle mixture screw until the engine does not bog and stall
when you blip the throttle open from idle.

Reset the idle speed.

You're done.
