John,
I would have read the responses to be use anti-seize compound on the
threads, not necessarily on the smooth shaft.  BTW, ARP says that loctite is
not usually necessary BUT if you do use it be certain to torque the
fasteners to their reccommended setting BEFORE the locktite sets up.

Thanks to everyone that replied.  The concensus is to not use locktite,
but use some antiseize on the smooth shaft of the stud to keep
the head from sticking to the studs.
