There are tools that will remove those screws.  The locksmith in a
department I worked with years ago had a tool like the one in this
article.  He didn't use it very often but it worked for him.

Here's another article with a better picture of the tool and a couple other
suggestions.  You might be able to cut a slot that a regular screwdriver
can grip.
