I started with blemished/reconditioned Ryobi One+ tools from DirectTool
(they are at the outlet mall near me, but also online).

In ten years, ten tools and six batteries, I've only had one battery
failure.  The pros I work with turn up their noses at them, but for what I
do they are just fine.
