I have an Astro, probably the same engine, and it took me 4 hours to replace
the starter in it. Then a couple of months later it blew a headgasket. I
don't know how many head gaskets I've changed in the Herald but I could do
it in a couple of hours. When I read the manuel on the Astro, after I got
to the third page and it called for disconnecting the engine mounts and
jacking the engine, I decided to take it to a proffessional. He said
$1,200. I decided to replace the entire engine for about $3,500 over a
blown head gasket. And my neighbors think I'm crazy because I have
"unreliable and expensive" British cars. Go figure.
