You have just discovered the secret of silicone car polishes. The silicone
oil makes the finish look a lot shinier than it really is. Doesn't last
really long though. The paint surface itself is rough and weathered, which
is why it won't hold the shine.

Can't answer that. I do know that the neighborhood cats won't sit on the
car so much. (They'll slide right off.)
Hey, a lot of waxes are petroleum products, right? Try it and report back
in a couple months.
