I seem to recall that the rubber bumper (or rubber overrider) cars from
1974 on in the US, the ones with the rear frame extensions, did use a
narrower transverse silencer box, since the wider one really didn't fit
between those frame extensions. So I'll guess the wider GT6+ or Mk3 rear
silencers won't fit the 1974 and later cars without hanging down rather
too far.
