I guess it would help if I proofread what I was sending.  Yes I meant relay
and not solenoid.

I think you mean a solenoid RELAY.  All the "J" type overdrives (I have
ever seen) have a solenoid, it's just not the 2 stage, high amperage one
that was used on the older type overdrives.  It's also listed in all the
repair and parts manuals (part number NKC41) and at around $180 quite
expensive.  Its located low, almost under the overdrive on the left hand
side and runs parallel to the frame.  The relay that switches the solenoid
is another matter and may or may not be used.  Personally, I would use one
(and do, on my GT6+ with a "J" type) because it uses less switching current
than even the solenoid and will help prevent the switch from burning out
that much sooner -
