yes.

Gimli has 2 7500 ft x 200 ft WW2 runways. Our main straight of the
racetrack uses about the last 2000 feet at the North end. In your basis
triangle config, however, the back straight runs about 45 deg tangent.
This means, that, driving straight off rather than turning, you are looking
at about the 1/3 form the end, which is exactly where said 767 fell to earth
(Bowie fan?).

There was a Formula Ford race on at the time (I missed the involvement by a
few years but have seen the pictures), and for obvious reasons it was red
flagged. Apparently the skidding caused localised fires and the WSCC
firebottles were used in aide. I have heard it said that we were never
reimbursed for the refill costs by Air Canada!

Y'know, a SPITFIRE would not have run out of fuel, and if it landed we
could have asked him to join out club !! (sorry, real cheap big grinning
shot at this wide open invitation). Neat that somebody else remembers the
ordeal.

Oh, finally, that corn field in Iowa where the, um, portrayed us as a
motley group of rank amateurs playing on an abandoned field..... well....
Gilled Villeneuve still holds the lap record. Bobby Rahal and Keke Rossberg
have raced here as well. John Jones (IndyCar rookie of the year 1989 or 90)
took his driving school with out club....we can boast a few hot shoes at our
facility. But no "shirtless" super-actress landloards, sadly.

Dave T
waiting for that damn Colorado Low to ruin this early spring.
