No, overdrive should work in 3rd and 4th.  That is how it is designed.  The
usefulness of the 3rd overdrive gear is questionable as it is close, but not
the same, as 4th.  Depends on your driving habits.

It might be possible, but I don't know what advantage that would give you.
What does the Manual say regarding using OD in third gear?
