About the same life as a 1979 Chevy Camaro brake master, but not as cheap 
($15)!

You can get yours re-sleeved and rebuilt for less than the e-bay price (Ted)!

Get yourself a spare and have it rebuilt so your downtime when your's fails 
will be minimal.

Flush your sysem with new fluid (I use Castrol LMA) every 2-3 years.  
Speedbleeders and a piece of tubing make it an easy 1-person job.
