another major concern with simply 'chop-topping'
a GT6 to fit a Spit, is the windshields are different heights.

I have never tried something like that ( would have to find a GT 6 in SA
first... fat chance ) , but when I obtained my Mk 2 Spitfire it came with a
Lenham glass fibre hard top that is basically a reproduction of the GT 6
roof section .
I stupidly gave the hard top away , but as far as I can remember it used six
bolts to secure it to the body . Two through the windshield frame ( normal
hard top fixing points ) and two on each side of the rear body section next
to the bootlid or trunk as you call it ( me thinks ) .
If the Lenham kits are still available it might be an easier option than
cutting the roof off of a GT 6 .

There is a MK 2 Spitfire sitting in the yard with what
appeared to be a GT6 look to it. Closer inspection showed
someone had carefully cut a top off a GT6 and set it onto a
Spit. There was no method of fastening the hard top on,
and no seals around the top of the windshield.
Has anyone else tried this idea? Did it work?
