Ok, so it is 4 times the cost of a cheapo Midget waterpump.....but.....

This site I looked at advertised a 30psi/ 100litres-per-minute waterpump
with electric control that stopped the motor running for the warmup and kept
running slowly after shutdown to help reduce problems with boiling of the
water after you have done a high speed run.  Basically uses almost no power
during car acceleration as there is no cast iron spindle to spin up nor is
there any water being rapidly forced through the rad at high engine RPM.  No
fan belt to drop off either.  Weighs 2 lbs.  2000hr recommended life on the
pump motor.
