Nylock nuts are infinitely reusable, provided they still provide friction.
Aviation A&P practices of replacing nyloc nuts changed to what I've described
some years ago. The automotive industry, which follows these practices still
hasn't caught up with the change.

Do *not* use a standard split lock washer as a replacement. These lock
washers...aren't. They generally do not actually work, and if they do, it's by
damaging the nut and the base.

While stripping down my Spitfires, I've noticed the suspension bolts are all
nylock nuts. The rest are lock washers type. When I put it back together, is
it required to replace nylock with nylock? Would lock washers work as well?
Are the suspension bolt and nylock nuts reusable, if no obvious wear or damage
is visable?
