Amy: I too had a little problem with a clutch that had Dot 5. When it started leaking down on my shoes I added Dot 4. Shortly thereafter I rebuilt the MC. When I drained the fluid it looked like a "Lava Lamp". The fluids didn't mix, the Dot 5 just floated around in a blob. I refilled the system with Dot 4 (LMA) and all has been fine, so far.
