If one does pull the eng without the trans connected remember not to put ANY
weight on the trans input shaft.There is no seal here, just a spirial cut
grove in the end plate which "tends" to push the trans oil back into the
trans. If you put too much weight on the input shaft, you could damage this
and lose trans oil and/or oil up the clutch. There is a hole in the bottom
of the bell housing which is to drain the oil out and, just as important, a
very loose fitting cotter pin bouncing around to keep this hole from
clogging up with road grit.Mini Mania sells a kit to convert this to a
proper rubber seal,------no, I have not tried it nor do I work for 'em.  Bob C
