I swan, if I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any
luck at all. While fitting the distributer back in, without
touching the pinch bolt, the #$%@ distributor came out of its
clamp, so I have to start timing from scratch. In the Haynes manual,
which is all I have, on page 114, figure 4.11 purports to show
me the timing marks used on ALL models except 1500 (I have a
'72 1275). Figure 4.12 shows the timing scale on late A-series
engines (isn't that what I got?). But the two figures have TDC
on opposite sides. Does one engine run backwards?

My engine has only the 5 timing marks like fig 4.11, not the
6 marks shown in 4.12, so I guess I use 4.11 where TDC (my static timing
mark) is the one on the far left as I look at the marks from the front.
Is that right?

Please pardon my stupidity, but I haven't done this stuff since I
was a teen the the 50's; I'm relearning as I go.
