Hi everyone. I am new to the Spridgets list and had unsubscribed to the
MG list awhile back (don't remember why) but now I'm back on both.
I have a 1968 Red Midget that I have rebuilt the front end over the last
6 months. (I know this seems like a long time but I'm a slow learner).
Anyway, it is now road tested and doing fine. It does smoke alot but I
have an extra engine and transmission that I intend to put in it some
time. This will probably never be restorable, but I do plan on makinking
very road worthy.
My other LBC is a 1978 Green Midget that I was fortunate to buy a year
ago that had been completely restored by Tony Lane the PV. It has 50K
original miles and usually takes best of class in the shows I've taken
it to here in the Midwest. I've really enjoyed getting more involved
with the shows with this car.
Now my problem:
The '78 has developed a viabration when I'm accelerating beginning
about 38 mph and stays viabrating up to about 60-65 mph. It seems to be
coming from the drivetrain. I have even turned the engine completely off
and coasted to a stop and the viabration continues until I am at about
15 mph and then goes away so it's not the engine. It seems once the
viabration starts it tends to stay until I slow clear down. The tires
seem to be ok even though I have not had them balanced since I've had
the car.
Does anyone have any suggetions on what might be causing the viabration.
I hope I haven't left out any details but if additional info is needed
to make an armchair diagnosis, let me know.
