Shannon, 

You left out the part about the sunrise on the volcano Haleakala, over
the "lunar" landscape followed by a downhill bike ride through the sugar
cane plantations all of the way to the ocean (38 miles). Also, the part
about the sunset over Wailea Bay. Or watching the whales broach and
spout while eating a wonderful seafood meal in Kihei or Lahaina. It has
to be the most beautiful place on earth. 

The downside is the VERY SLOW drivers and all of the tourists. The roads
are great, winding and hilly, but the traffic is terrible. It is the
only place that I have ever driven where all of the traffic moves at 10
miles per hour under the slow (55mph) speed limit. You never have a
chance to enjoy driving. My wife would love to live there but I couldn't
stand the lack of speed. Maybe after my lobotomy....
