Hello,

I just purchased a Lucas Sports Coil for my 1969 Midget and I'm trying to
figure out if there is a ballast resistor in the car, perhaps in the
starter solonoid. Is there any easy way to figure this out short of buying
a voltmeter and checking the voltage to the + side of the coil?

On another note, I replaced the connecting rod big end bearings in the car
last weekend and I finally have proper oil pressure again! The weekend
before that I pulled the head and lapped the valves and replaced the seals,
no more oil burning. Many thanks to all who suggested these repairs and
saved me the expense and trouble of a full blown engine rebuild. I also
installed a new radiator and rocker assembly while I was in there. I've put
300 miles on the car in the last few days and it runs great.

Thanks again,

Robert Weeks
