It wasn't the stock setup, but the depth (flywheel to release face on
pressure plate) wasn't much different to stock.

If you are sure that at that depth, the release bearing can be
vertical without binding on the release fork, then you should be
OK.

Mind you, it doesn't take much effort to grind the plastic casing
a bit to make sure...
