Daniel,
You car came with a 4.22 rear end.  this was used throughout early 1275s
and then replaced by a 3.9 which was also kept for the 1500 except for the
last two years which had the 3.7.

One thing to consider is that the Midget 1500 had a different transmission
with a shorter first gear, allowing it to still take off smoothly even
with the 3.7 rear end.  
Because of your smaller motor and the longer first gear of your tranny,
the 3.7 would probably be too much.
I have heard from several people who run 3.9s in their Bugeyes and they
like it.
This would lower your rpm from 4500 to 4150.
