Hello, all.

I've been away from the mailing lists for the last year
or so, and when I got back -- hey, a spridget list! Cool.

My name is Mark Joerger, and I live in Salem, Oregon. My
garage has lots of assorted spridget pieces, but the pieces
don't go on a spridget anymore. The engine, driveshaft, rear
end, and other assorted bits of the old '73 Midget now
perform their duties in my Westfield Eleven. Photos and
info can be seen at:

        http://www,open.org/joerger/westfield.html

At the moment, a couple of problems with the 1275:

1) When my local shop rebuilt the engine, they used the
unknown regrind cam that was in it. Judgeing from the
opening of the intake valve (at about 36 degrees BTDC)
I figure the cam has about 280 to 290 degrees duration!
The compression ratio is only 9.3:1. Am I kidding myself
trying to run that much cam with that little compression?
It just does not have much oomph anywhere in the rev range,
although it certainly is willing to rev! Since the car is
only 1100 lbs. I don't have any trouble driving it, even
with the 1200 rpm idle and weak low end torque -- but
should I boost the compression ratio up a bit? If so,
how much? I still want to be able to run pump gas!

2) Cosmetic issue: I'm running the stock rocker cover, and
I'd like something a little more classy to show when the
bonnet is up -- but I don't want a "mini fin" cover. I found
a really nice alloy cover advertized at:

        http://www.bcsc.demon.co.uk/rockers.htm

Really nice! Kinda pricey (like $130 to $170)! Has anyone
actually seen this cover? Does anyone have a less pricey
 alternative?

Thanks for any input! Oh, and if anyone needs a ribcase, freshly
rebuilt stock carbs, steel backplate, radiator, or other assorted
bits that are neatly stacked in my garage, do let me know!
