Greg,

     The extinguisher in question most likely contained a carbon
tetrachloride solution, rated for "A" type fires( paper/wood etc,,,).  Be
careful NOT to come in contact with any remaining solution as some folks
get a pretty bad chem. burn from it.  As for servicing, Simplex is still
a major player in hte Fire&Safety field and MAY still stock valves,
seals, and other service parts.  Check your phone book for either Simplex
or fire and safety for a certified service rep.
