As far as I know, if it looks like a Phillips and it's on a Spridget, it's
actually a Posidriv. (If I'm wrong on this, someone correct me before I
bodge up a real Phillips screw!)
In essence, the tip of a Posidriv screwdriver is more blunt than a
Phillips, and the Posidriv screw has a square recess in the center, almost
as though it were a square drive screw that someone cut a Phillips slot
into, with the "phillips" slots perpendicular to the flat sides of the
square (rather than off the corners). The giveaway is a series of small
marks in the head that are 45 degrees from the screw slots.

If you look at the driver in the diagram, you can see why a Phillips
screwdriver so easily mangles a Posidriv screw. The "pointier" tip of the
Phillips driver won't let it engage the Posidriv screw fully. In a pinch,
some judicious file/grinder work on a Phillips screwdriver can suffice.
