Amen to everyone's words. Since some of you guys know what I do I thought
I'd tell you - yesterday on the way to work in the Sprite my pager went off
in the car - a "912" area code with a "911" attached at the end. That's
the 93rd Air Wing's area code at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.
Although I am a civilian sometimes I fly missions with the crew of our
aircraft, and we have deployed with the Air Force several times, must
notably and successfully in the Persian Gulf in Desert Storm. I thought
worst case immediately, thinking maybe I'd be going for a little trip
halfway around the world for the holidays. The thought of being halfway
around the world away from my family at this time of year with a very clear
and present danger so close cleared my head immediately of a lot of the
trivia that goes along with everyday life. It turned it it was nothing too
serious, and I will be spending the holidays here safe and sound. Thanks
to everyone who has made it possible for us to live in places where on some
days our biggest worries are oil leaks and carb mixtures.
