OK, re-adjusted and a quick TOP DOWN test
ride and all is well. Backed off 1/2 flat (those holes
had been obscured by virtue of being filled with old
grease) and the hubs run smooth and steady. No movement in
the front end now!

BTW ... this all started with a strange groaning noise,
seemingly from the rear end, while in motion, mostly
over 25 mph. Replaced the bearings at all 4 corners,
replaced pads and shoes, and swapped the right-rear
tire with the newer spare. THE NOISE IS GONE. Don't
know which fix fixed it, but I don't need to replace the
diff. Yay!

Thanks to all for all the help,

chuck
