The weather having been relatively decent for February in Iowa, I had
been feeling somewhat frustrated by the existence of warm weather only
when I had no time available. Thus, when my buddy Carl (who is kind
enough to store my Miss Molly in his nice heated garage) called at 9:30
PM on Wednesday and said that Molly was demanding to be exercised, I
grabbed the keys and headed over.

Hey, who am I to argue with a talking car?

It was 62 F when we dropped the top and headed east out of Council Bluffs
on HWY 6. Made a loop to HWY 191 North and caught I-80 East to HWY 59
North to Harlan. Still 60 F, and we turned around and took HWY 44 east
to HWY 30 West, intending to enjoy a leisurely drive home.

Ten miles outside of Harlan, the cold front that was rumored to be coming
through caught up to us. Air got noticeable colder, and then it started
to rain and sleet. We drove in that until we got to Missouri Valley, and
were forced to stop and put up the top (yeah, yeah, I know....).

It was 35 F according to the bank time/temperature sign, and the sleet
and rain was coming down pretty good at that point. We were staying dry,
and reasonably warm, but the wind was spattering just a bit of rain on
the inside of the windscreen. This, when combined with the lights of
oncoming traffic, made it impossible to see the road. Besides, the local
constabulary gave us a looooong funny look when we cruised by, top down,
wearing silly grins, in a winter rain storm.

Top up, we motored home on HWY 183 having made a 130 mile trip. 60 in
nice weather top down, 45 in nasty weather top down, and 25 top up in
really nasty stuff. Couldn't have had more fun if we tried!

Molly performed wonderfully, and seemed glad to be taken out and
appreciated.
