What I do is to reverse the half shaft onto the studs so the long spiky bit
pokes outwards. A couple of wheel nuts can then be threaded onto the studs
and alternately tightened. The hub will then gently be drawn off the axle
tube and the half shaft makes a conventient hub handle.

I am trying to remove the rear hubs on a Sprite with solid wheels.

Could you please tell me what the central bolt of the "generic
hub puller" should lever against? Is this a "special" tool or
is there some practical and easy way around it?

After all, there is only fresh air at the centre of the hub...

Thank you
Evangelos
