Me too. 
I actually accidentally reversed the battery (long story) and ran my '69 for 
months. 
Only the radio fuse was blown and the TACH was fried. everything else worked 
normally.

I reversed the polarity on my '65 and didn't reverse the fuel gauge wires.
The only instrument that required attention was the tach.
