I voted (only once) for Sprite. But, the Ford Model T would have to be
the true car of the century. You can definitely see parallels with the
Sprite, though: 4 cylinder, simple(substitute utilitarian), rugged, fun,
affordable. The Mini was certainly a milestone. VW Bug was a marvel.
Etc., etc.
I also get tired of the old Ford vs. Chevy argument although I'm a Ford
fan. If I had to choose a new car from one of the "big three", though,
I'd probably opt for a Viper. The Mopar guys don't seem to argue,
their iron does the talkin'.
