<< I have been lurking about this list for 3-4 months now (actually I like
"passively observing" better than lurking) and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
Twenty-five years ago I owned a 1967 Sprite for a couple of years. For six
months of that time, while attending a Navy school, I drove from Pensacola,
Florida to Atlanta, Georgia and back every other weekend to see my
girlfriend (now my wife). When we got married I did what I thought was
responsible and sold the Sprite.

Well, I have seen the error of my ways, due in no small part to the unknown
encouragement of the Spridget List. My fifteen year-old son describes it
as a mid-life crisis, but I insist that there is no crisis at all -- simply
a second chance! I am now the proud OWNER of a 1968 Mk IV.

Although routine maintenance and minor repairs are no problem for me, I am
no mechanic, so I was not looking for a "project" car. Via the 'net, I
found what I wanted. This car underwent a body-off restoration two years
ago by an IBM program analyst in Austin, Texas. He is now working on an MGA
and needed garage space. He now has more working room and I have a daily
driver.

Having monitored the list for a few months, I had a better understanding of
what questions to ask and what answers to expect. My first Sprite was the
only other used car (previously owned?) I've ever purchased, but you all (ya
'll) made this experience much easier for me. After months of
correspondence (e-mail), questions/answers, and exchange of photos, I had
essentially decided to buy the car, so I flew from Atlanta to Austin for a
personal inspection. It was everything I had expected and we completed the
deal. I drove it across town (Friday afternoon traffic, 107 degrees) to an
auto dealership where I would have it picked by a transport company. A week
later, it arrived at Atlanta Classic Cars where I picked it up and promptly
took the rest of the day off to "drive it home."

Thanks again, listers!!! >>
