I got the nerve to take the wife's non-concourse Sprite to a small car
show this weekend in Ft. Worth at a place called British Auto
Specialists. Saw many wonderful cars, some that I had just heard of but
never seen. There was an Aston Martin, 3 Morgans, 2 Mini's, a Frogeye, a
100-6, several MGA's coupes and roadsters, as well as several of the
earlier MG's (TD, TC etc.) There was a strong showing of the Triumph
marque as The Red River Triumph Club was in full force with lots of
Spits and some TR2's & TR3's (sorry don't really know the differences
between em) Despite the initial hesitation to even show the car, there
were no prizes given just a look see type of affair, I was very glad I
did as we were the only representaion of that era box Sprite and
received lots of questions and interest on my humble attempt at a
restoration. I must say it was good to see fellow lister Jim Gambony
there with his awesome sounding autocross car, don't know if there were
other listers there I didn't see Shawn and I am sorry that Ann was not
able to make it. I did a count and at any given time there were 60+
British cars to be seen at the event in various stages of repair, there
were always more cars coming up as some would pull away. All in all this
was a very enjoyable event without any pressure of prize winning and
just a fun B.S. session over our cars, I felt I came well equipped with
the B.S. Many thanks to the owners of British Auto Specialists and hope
that if there are any listers that didn't make it this time maybe we
shall see you at the next gathering. Brad Fornal
