I don't know about the Jacobs system but I just installed the Crane and the 
instructions informed me that if I had a Smith's tach with the looped wire on 
the back of it I would have to take the loop out of the wire for the tach to 
work.  At least that is my understanding.  I have a '79 Midget so didnt have 
to worry about that, but on my '67 Sprite I will if I decide to go Crane on 
it.
