I towed my '77 Midget about 80 miles after I bought it, using a U-Haul tow 
dolly.  No problems, and no disconnecting the driveshaft.  (Just don't try to 
back up.)  I don't think it will fit on the transport because they have two 
ramps instead of a full platform.

I don't think towing a Sprite with a tow dolly across the country would be 
fun, but a few hundred miles isn't too bad, and it's a lot cheaper.
