I had my downflow radiator re-cored here in San Bernardino, California
at a local radiator shop that specializes in the Route 66 Rendevous cars
(read: Classic Detroit Iron). When I brought the radiator to him, I
asked about just putting in a Chevy 3 row core for 2 reasons,
1) it is cheap, 2) I needed the extra cooling area for my Judson
installation and it gets very hot here in San Bernardino (lower desert)
in the Summer months. He looked in some books he had on the counter and
announced, " I can get you an original core, 12 fins to the inch, do you
want 2 or 3 rows?" It cost me 125 bucks and I painted it myself with
Eastwoods heat transfer black radiator paint. It looks absolutely
original and more cooling area than stock. A good experience with a
shop for a change.
