The YOM plates, (Year Of Manufacture) can usually be found at most big swap
meets.  They are also frequently found on some online sites and there are
also some people that actually restore them to original.  I've seen some
and they look absolutely fresh as from the prison.

If I'm not mistaken, the only way to do this is if you have a plate that is
the same year as that of the car. Since the black plates were actually
metal stamped with the year as opposed to the year stickers, you have to
find one that is the same vintage as the car. Not that it is easy, but it
can be done.
